DIRT

Why is it called “Best Ride Ever”? Because it has everything.

From Tasmanias’ beautiful East coast to the rugged West coast over four incredible days.

Each year the event effectively starts in Devonport.  We load the humans and the bikes into the truck and the bus and collect all the other riders along the way, stopping in Launceston and sometimes Perth.

Once in St Helens, about lunchtime Wednesday, we have a briefing, ensure we have all our safety understandings sorted, support vehicles loaded and head for Bridport. It’s a great way to ease into the event, a quick four to five hour blast through some of the best trails of the whole course.

Thursday begins with a run along the beach, it’s a spectacular setting, huge dunes, jungle then wind the way across to Asbestos Ranges for some great single tracks, fast forest breaks and a great variety of real Tasmania trail.

Fuel and lunch at Sassafras, then through some more challenging plantation and forest trails to Cradle Mountain .

Sensational meals and a great place to have a good yap with the others, all categories convene here and a great chance to hear the experiences of ADVs and Road bikes.. Tasmania really was built for bikes.

Friday, its gets real, along the powerlines and into the remote Tasmanian bush for some genuinely testing trails. If the weather cracks , it’s a whole different course and you will welcome a rest and a feed at Waratah. A long day for some including some intense dark clay tracks ready to catch the unwary.

Saturday is a genuine visual spectacular. Firstly through the old railway Line of Magnet Valley, a tar section to Corinna, then the breathtaking West coast, all the way to Strahan. There is no point trying to explain that in print, you simply have to see it, feel it, live it.. ask someone who has done it, and you’ll quickly see why over 60% of attendees are return riders, many having done it ten times or more.

Saturday night in Strahan is basically a party topped by the arrival of the ONE DAY riders who will have left St Helens at Four am.

Sunday is usually a tad slow to begin with, bikes and bodies all loaded for delivery home.

There is no place like Tasmania , an Island where you can ride from one side to the other on glorious trails, magic scenery and a very experienced crew to guide and assist you along the way.

Sign up today , you wont regret it.
